Minkoff Center for Jewish Genetics
For more than eighteen years the Minkoff Center for Jewish Genetics has worked to increase awareness regarding genetic disorders that are more prevalent in the Jewish community and the critical importance of carrier testing for these disorders. We offer events and screenings throughout the year that highlight Jewish genetic diseases and your individual carrier status. We have three programs: prenatal screening for those of child-bearing age, BRCA Hereditary Cancer screening and referral program, and BRCA positive support network. Our mission is to bring awareness to the fact that 1 in 40 Ashkenazi Jews are carriers of the BRCA gene mutation! This is nearly 10 times the rate of the general population, making Jewish families more susceptible to hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.
