Claiming Identities

Claiming Identities Which Aren’t Theirs: Pretendians and ‘Messianic Jews’ is a panel discussion exploring why some people claim to be a part of group that they are not and how this affects the real communities.

Pretendians are people who falsely claim to be a citizen of a Native American or Indigenous Canadian tribal nation and a Messianic Jew is someone who claims to be both Jewish and Christian.

The panel features Rabbi Stuart Federow, spiritual leader of Congregation Shaar Hashalom of Houston and author of “Judaism and Christianity: A Contrast,” and Jacqueline Keeler, Dine/Dakota writer living in Portland Oregon. The panel will be moderated by Gordon Bronitsky, Ph.D., of indigenow.com.

The free program will be held on Zoom. Reservations are required to receive the Zoom link.
