In August, Temple Emanuel of Tempe (TEOT) debuted its new “Young Families Program” with more than 100 people attending its first Tot Shabbat program of the year, followed up by last week’s successful shofar-blowing program event at South Mountain.

During the High Holy Days’ season, TEOT will be offering five special opportunities for families with newborns to age 7 to celebrate Rosh HaShanah, Tashlich, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, and Simchat Torah.  Programming will be led by Rabbi Cookie Lea Olshein and Religious School Director Jessie Rubenstein.  All programs are free and open to all with RSVP.  These events are also co-sponsored by PJ Library.

Rabbi Olshein said, “Participation in age-appropriate High Holy Days’ services is critical to identity formation for Jewish children.  At Temple Emanuel, we work hard to create meaning-filled worship balanced with fun memories our children will remember.  Allowing this kind of open-to-the-community worship allows us to share the joy of practicing Judaism with our smallest worshipers so they will always love being, and doing, Jewish.”

TEOT’s Rosh HaShanah Family Service will be held on Monday, September 26, at 9:00am, at TEOT’s High Holy Days’ location, Dayspring United Methodist Church, located at 1365 E. Elliott Rd., Tempe 85284.  Free tickets for the Rosh HaShanah Family Service require online RSVP by 9/22.

RSVP links and more information about each event can be found at EmanuelOfTempe.org/high-holidays.

Temple Emanuel of Tempe is the only full-service Reform Jewish congregation in the southeast Phoenix valley and is affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism.  TEOT is located at 5901 S. Rural Road (approximately 1 mile south of US60, 2 miles east of I-10, and 2 miles west of SR101).  For more information, please call TEOT at (480) 838-1414 or visit TEOT’s website at www.EmanuelOfTempe.org.
