Bureau of Jewish Education:

Jews of Color in Early America

February 4, 2024 Scottsdale $20.00 - $250.00
Laura-A-Leibman-headshot

Today multiracial Jews represent about 10-25% of the Jewish population in U.S. cities, with nearly 87,000 nonwhite, Hispanic, or multiracial Jewish households in the New York area alone. Most people tend to think of multiracial Jews as a fairly recent phenomenon, but in this talk, Professor Leibman reveals the early history of multiracial Jews in the United States and Caribbean and explains how their stories got lost in common retellings of Jewish American history.
