History and Future

In 2006, Rabbi Raphael Landesman and a group of local parents saw the need for an Orthodox Jewish girls’ high school that would serve Phoenix and the surrounding areas. Starting off in a small, rented space, Shearim then purchased its own building, which we have significantly outgrown. During the fourteen years since inception, Shearim has grown from four to fifty students as our reputation for excellence continues to increase. Shearim is accredited by AdvancED and Torah Umesorah.

Shearim students primarily come from the two local Orthodox day schools, the Phoenix Hebrew Academy and Torah Day School of Phoenix. The Greater Phoenix Jewish Community is growing at a prodigious rate, with many new families continually moving into the area. As the day schools expand, we anticipate an enrollment of 70-80 students within the next four years.

A New Campus!

Shearim recently purchased a 1.6+ acre site that will provide a beautiful new home for our students and programs. The buildings total over 10,000 square feet and include a multi-purpose room, seven classrooms, a library, six offices, kitchens, several courtyards, and well over 130 parking spaces.

A great school needs a great physical location where girls can engage in all aspects of their lives as committed Jewish women.  The purchase of this building benefits not only Shearim but also the entire Phoenix Jewish community.

Now that we have purchased our new home, we are in the process of remodeling the facility to fit our needs. Please join us in this endeavor to continue strengthening Yiddishkeit in Arizona.
