In today’s always-on world, teens spend a significant part of their lives online—scrolling, posting, sharing, and engaging with content that ranges from uplifting to harmful. For Jewish teens in particular, navigating social media presents both unique challenges and meaningful opportunities. Rising antisemitism, misinformation, and identity-based harassment are increasingly common, but so are moments of connection, empowerment, and cultural pride.

A new digital resource, created by Jewish educator and digital storyteller Amy Albertson in partnership with The Jewish Education Project, is designed to help parents support their teens through this complex landscape.

The free downloadable guide—“Being Jewish on Social Media: Insights and Strategies for Supporting Jewish Teens”—offers practical tools, platform-specific tips, and thoughtful advice to help parents encourage healthy digital habits and nurture a strong sense of Jewish identity.

Inside, you’ll find tips for setting parental controls across popular platforms like TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitch. The guide walks you through how to document and report antisemitic content, offers strategies to promote media literacy and screen-life balance, and includes conversation starters to help spark meaningful dialogue with your teen about their online experiences and Jewish identity.

Beyond safety, the guide encourages teens to celebrate their identity online. It highlights recommended creators—such as @unpackedmedia and @montanatucker—who are using digital platforms to share Jewish stories, promote pride, and build community.

Parents are urged to stay involved, support boundary-setting, and embrace the positive potential of social media. Whether you’re the parent of a Jewish teen, an educator, or simply someone who cares, this guide is an essential tool for helping the next generation thrive—online and off.
