This fourth session of CJP’s “Creating a Space for Belonging” professional development series will take place on Friday, September 6, 2024, and will focus on the best practices for including the disability community in programs and events. This virtual event presented by Gesher Disability Resources, brings together industry leaders who will share their expertise and strategies for fostering inclusivity. Designed for Jewish clergy, professionals, and lay leaders in the Greater Phoenix area, this session promises to deepen participants’ ability to engage meaningfully within their organizations.
Our dynamic group of presenters includes Lynne Wellish, the Director of Engagement for Damon Brooks & Associates, who will provide extensive insights on accessibility and engagement. Ricki Light, an educational advocate at Cortica, will offer invaluable perspectives on advocating for inclusivity in various programs. Jamie Kornbluth, an event planner with Events 13, will share innovative approaches to crafting inclusive and accessible events. Each presenter brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, ensuring that attendees leave with actionable strategies to create truly inclusive experiences.

Meet the Presenters:
Lynne Wellish CMP CHSE, is an award winning and energetic industry expert, graduate of UNLV in Hospitality Management and an adjunct faculty member at Scottsdale Community College and Northern Arizona University in the Hospitality College, Lynne brings education and enthusiasm. She has over 40 years in the industry in a variety of Meeting and Event Professional and Hospitality Sales Executive positions. As an Engagement Specialist for Damon Brooks and Associates, a unique boutique speakers bureau and all of our speakers are living with a disability, Lynne has been able to look at life through a different lens.
Ricki Light, (Light Educational Advocacy Services) has been an Educational Advocate and Strategist, for the past twenty-four years and has partnered with Gesher during this time. Ricki holds master’s level degrees in School Administration and Educational Counseling and undergraduate degrees of Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Bachelor of Education with an emphasis on Special Education. Ricki’s additional twenty years of public-school experiences as a Classroom Teacher, Inclusion Facilitator, Behavior Specialist, Transition Teacher, Special Education Program Specialist, and Consultant at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles have provided her with a comprehensive understanding of positive classroom practices and insight into children’s unique strengths and needs. Ricki has presented at conferences, locally, nationally, and internationally on topics that range from practical support for children with learning, social communication, attention, executive functioning, and behavioral differences to strategies to assist school personnel work collaboratively with families to develop individualized educational support plans.
Jamie Kornbluth is a Lead Assistant at Events 13, a full service Bar/Bat Mitzvah event planning company. She helps manage events from the initial concept to day-of execution and assists with everything in between including vendor selection and management, room layout and design, and creating a successful guest experience. She lives in the Valley with her husband Ian and twin 17-year-old daughters Camryn and Lindsay. Jamie’s greatest strength lies in her unique ability to network and engage with people, and is passionate about the Jewish community serving on multiple committees including Women in Philanthropy at the CJP and is a Board Member of the Women’s Leadership Institute of Arizona.
