We love making our own pita and hummus in our home. Hummus is incredibly versatile and it is easy to make some delicious combos. These three recipes are all full of flavor and easy to make. So whether or not you like classic hummus or ready to change it up, these recipes will not disappoint.

Traditional Hummus Ingredients:

  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained & rinsed*
  • 1/4 cup tahini, raw
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Avocado Jalapeno Hummus Ingredients:

  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained & rinsed*
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 jalapeno, seeded
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Beet Hummus Ingredients:

  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained & rinsed*
  • 1 cup roasted (or boiled) beets
  • 1/4 cup tahini, raw
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

*TIP* Take a few extra minutes and remove the outer skin on the chickpeas. It isn’t fully necessary, but will make a smoother hummus.

Directions:

  1. Blend all of the ingredients in a blender or food processor until smooth. Add water to thin out if necessary (1/2 tbsp at a time).
  2. Serve immediately or chill in refrigerator until ready to enjoy. Can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.⠀
