Founded by Rabbi Elana Kanter and currently led by new Executive Director Rabbi Emily Langowitz, the Women’s Leadership Institute of Arizona has been empowering, connecting, and training Jewish women in the Greater Phoenix area for a decade.
On May 8, 2025, from 6:30-8pm, WLI invites the entire Jewish community to come together and celebrate its largest ever cohort of mentees. The mentees of Cohort 9 have already made their mark on our community. Mentees have been instrumental in supporting the programming of countless other organizations in our Jewish community – from organizing supplies at the Minkoff Center for Jewish Genetics for women undergoing breast cancer treatment to revitalizing the JCRC website and operations systems, from supporting the Phoenix Holocaust Association in helping survivors travel to downtown Phoenix to attend their Yom HaShoah commemoration to creating an accounting model for Jewish Free Loan’s development goals, from organizing a pluralistic K-12 Jewish educators conference to coordinating the volunteers at Gesher Disability Resource’s model seder, the women of this cohort are truly leading our community to be the kind of place where we all can thrive.
Join us in honoring the spectacular talents of the following women and their mentors:
Lakie Blech, Leah Bookbinder, Lisa Dershowitz, Jesse Edwards, Janelle Einfrank, Alissa Hollander, Jacquelyn Johnson, Leia Linn, Gabbie Lipson, Logan Marcus, Ashley Okun, Ali Sontag, Gabby Steinberg, Bailey Tocco, Noone Tongay, and M Zavos-Costales.
We will also be welcoming the new mentees of WLI’s tenth cohort and celebrating a decade of WLI’s service and inspiring leadership in the Jewish community and beyond.
