“Controversial Issues in Judaism,” a four-part series, will be presented by Temple Beth Shalom of the West Valley in May.
“As society changes rapidly, views on religious and existential issues change as well. This series will look at four issues that are controversial for different reasons,” said Rabbi Dana Evan Kaplan who is leading the classes. “Some are cutting-edge new ones that would not have been thought about just a few years ago, and some are long-standing issues that have been in the forefront of debate for many years.”
Classes will be from 10-11 a.m. Mondays, May 1, 8, 15 and 22, at Temple Beth Shalom of the West Valley, 12202 N. 101st Ave. Sun City.
Participants will choose from the following topics:
-
Gun control
-
Israel and Zionism
-
Extraterrestrial beings and God
-
Why do people find Jews so threatening?
-

-

-
