Genealogist to speak at Sisterhood luncheon

Genealogist Emily Garber, who specializes in Jewish genealogical research, will be the speaker at the Sisterhood luncheon at noon Feb. 19 at Temple Beth Shalom of the West Valley, 12202 N. 101st Ave. in Sun City.

Garber has been conducting family history research since 2017. She has worked with records from Eastern European and German Jewish immigrants. Her client work has included research into narrowly defined genealogical problems as well as research, management, development and writing of broadly based family history narratives.

She has provided several Jewish genealogy courses for Jewish community centers and synagogues. She also has taught classes for Arizona State University’s Center for Jewish Studies. In addition, she has presented intermediate and advanced genealogy talks to both Jewish and non-Jewish genealogy groups and conferences.

Cost is $12 for Sisterhood members and $15 for non-members. Reservation may be made by Feb. 14 by calling the Temple office at 623.977.3240.
