This is one of the helicopters used by Magen David Adom paramedics to treat victims of the Oct. 7 massacre.

Temple Beth Shalom is honored to receive Israeli paramedic Shafir Botner as a guest speaker from Magen David Adom, Israel’s Red Cross, during Shabbat services at 7 p.m. at the Temple.

The important work of Magen David Adom and first responders and heros such as Dr. Botner is immense. As Elie Wiesel once stated, “For the dead and the living, we must bear witness.”

On Oct. 7, 1,400 Israeli civilians: mothers, fathers, babies, children, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and concert goers in the prime of their lives were brutally murdered in the most barbaric ways we could not have ever imagined.

Communities were destroyed, children watched their parents and relatives get slaughtered, more than 200 were taken hostage, and the injured are too numerous to count.

Magen David Adom medics and paramedics have remained on high alert since that fateful day. Israel needs our support more than ever. Be a part of Israel’s defense by supporting the life-saving work of Magen David Adom in Israel.

We invite you to join us on Jan. 26 to bear witness to Oct. 7 and honor the heroic work of Magen David Adom. For more information, go to the American Friends of Magen David Adom’s website,
