Earlier this month, our home was filled with laughter, delicious aromas, and the warmth of friendship as we hosted a PJ Library Get Together. In collaboration with three other families, we celebrated the upcoming Hanukkah festivities, creating lasting memories and strengthening the bonds within our community.
Four families, including our own, came together for an afternoon of joy and celebration. Our guests, with children ranging from ages 1 to 9, joined us for a pre-Hanukkah extravaganza. The day was filled with delightful activities that brought smiles to the faces of both children and adults. We enjoyed traditional Hanukkah treats such as latkes and donuts, indulging in the festive flavors of the season. Everyone decorated wooden dreidels and engaged in dreidel games, showcasing their competitive spirit, and explored their artistic talents through Hanukkah scratch art.
To add a literary touch to the afternoon, my 9-year-old son, took on the role of a storyteller, reading a PJ Library Hanukkah story to captivated young audiences. It was a wonderful blend of fun and education, allowing us to share our traditions while learning about those of our friends.
The opportunity to host a PJ Library Get Together was made possible through a $100 grant, which covered the cost of food and activities for our guests. This not only made the event financially accessible but also emphasized the inclusivity and generosity fostered by the PJ Library community.
The decision to host was rooted in our desire to share our holiday traditions with friends and, in turn, learn about their own customs. The PJ Library Get Together provided a platform for our family and friends to come together, fostering a supportive and loving environment during the holiday season.
Some of the participating families were part of interfaith households, and we were able to share and teach the traditions and story of Hanukkah to those less familiar. Everyone enjoyed sharing their families traditions and learning from one another.
Our PJ Library Get Together was a heartwarming experience that brought families together to celebrate, learn, and create lasting connections. It exemplified the power of community, the richness of traditions, and the joy that comes from sharing special moments with those we hold dear. We look forward to more opportunities to host and celebrate the beauty of our shared heritage with the support of PJ Library.
