Limmud is dedicated to a simple premise: that by bringing Jews from diverse backgrounds together to learn from and with each other, we can break down barriers, elevate curiosity, and build a more animated, more vibrant Jewish future. Through our dozens of programs across North America each year – Festivals of Jewish Ideas, the Global Day of Jewish Learning, and much much more – we provide a platform for Jews of all ages and approaches to connect, learn, and grow.

This work is more important now than ever before, in an age where so many people struggle to connect, or to see their place within Jewish community. All the more so, at a time when so many forces tear us apart based on our disagreements, encourage us to see the ‘other’ with skepticism or even disdain, we need opportunities to learn from and with those with whom we may disagree.

Limmud is that place.

Limmud in Arizona was born out of Phoenix’ first-ever Community Conversation ten years ago, and we are ecstatic to bring Limmud back to Phoenix for our first in-person conference since the Pandemic to mark the decade since that initial communal convening. In January 2024, we look forward to bringing together hundreds of people from across the Jewish community under the theme of “How to Build a Community Culture of Belonging.”

The conference will start with sessions taught by local rabbis, focused on Judaism’s Ten Best Ideas. It will continue with a Keynote Presentation by Wendy Verba, founder of Belonging By Design following by conversations on community. In Limmud style, the program will include a series of sessions on diverse Jewish topics and ideas that participants can choose from. Our 2024 conference will conclude with a community-wide mitzvah project. We are grateful for Center for Jewish Philanthropy of Greater Phoenix for co- sponsoring the program.

We are ecstatic to support Phoenix’ growing Jewish community in reflecting on where it stands and where it is going, in the framework of Limmud’s unique approach to community-building through Jewish learning. I hope to see you there!

Rabbi David Singer is CEO of Limmud North America.

Limmud AZ will take place on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Pardes Jewish Day School in Scottsdale from 1-5PM.
