As the leading anti-hate organization in the United States created in 1913, ADL (Anti-Defamation League) combats antisemitism and extremism through investigating incidents, education, and advocacy. Locally in Arizona, ADL has long been fighting against hate and is excited that Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO & National Director of ADL is coming to Arizona on January 28th.  He will share ADL’s strategy and top priorities as our state, nation, and world face a concerning rise in antisemitism.

We know antisemitism has been on the rise nationally and in our community. ADL’s annual audit on antisemitism has shown an increase year over year, of antisemitic incidents, with 2022 seeing the highest number of incidents on record since ADL began recording antisemitic incidents in 1979.  In the three months since the heartbreaking massacre in Israel on October 7th, U.S. antisemitic incidents have skyrocketed, reaching a total of 3,283 incidents between October 7th 2023 and January 7th 2024, according to ADL’s preliminary data. This represents a 360% increase compared to the same period one year prior. Since October 7th, there was an average of nearly 34 antisemitic incidents per day, putting 2023 as the highest year for antisemitic acts against Jews since ADL started tracking this data in the late 1970s. Unfortunately, Arizona has not been immune to these antisemitic incidents at our synagogues, on our college campuses, and in our greater community.

For these reasons and more, we are glad that ADL CEO & National Director Jonathan Greenblatt will be visiting Arizona formally for the first time. He will address the community, answer questions, and share ADL’s vision for combatting antisemitism. Please join us for this important community moment and event.
