The Greater Phoenix Jewish Film Festival (GPJFF) is pleased to introduce its new Artistic Director Nyles Gradus for the upcoming 28th Annual Greater Phoenix Jewish Film Festival, running Sunday, February 18 through Sunday, March 3, 2024. Continuing at the helm as co-Executive Directors are Tricia Beran and Sue Adatto, both elected by the GPJFF Board in June 2021. As the organization embarks on an exciting journey predominantly back into theaters, it proudly relies upon the expertise and vision of these three talented individuals, each committed to elevating the festival to new heights.

As Executive Directors, Beran and Adatto both bring a wealth of experience in film curation, festival management, and a deep understanding of the Jewish cultural landscape. Their dynamic leadership has already ushered the GPJFF into a vibrant era of growth and community engagement over the last two years.

Gradus, involved in the Festival for many years in various roles, became Artistic Director in January 2023. He brings with him a passion for cinema and a keen eye for thought-provoking narratives. His commitment to showcasing diverse perspectives and compelling storytelling aligns perfectly with the festival’s mission to celebrate Jewish heritage, history and culture through the power of film.

For 28 years, the Greater Phoenix Jewish Film Festival has been connecting communities through cinema, and this year will be no exception. As the Festival moves forward, the GPJFF is thrilled to announce that the majority of the screenings will return to theaters for an immersive cinematic experience that fosters collective appreciation and dialogue.

“After a challenging period that kept us mostly apart, we are overjoyed to once again come together in the theater to celebrate Jewish culture and heritage through the art of filmmaking,” states Beran. “The in-theater screenings will provide an opportunity for our audience to share their emotions and experiences in real-time, creating a sense of unity that is unique to the festival experience.”

The Greater Phoenix Jewish Film Festival’s commitment to personal safety remains paramount, and it will offer virtual film screening options, as well as ensuring all necessary health protocols are in place for a safe and enjoyable in-theater festival experience.

Adatto adds, “We are grateful for the continued support from our community and the dedicated team behind the scenes. With the guidance of our exceptional Artistic Director, Nyles Gradus, we are excited to curate a lineup of films that will resonate with audiences and inspire meaningful conversations.

Gradus promises an extraordinary celebration of Jewish cinema, fostering understanding, and promoting cultural dialogue in 2024. “I look forward to curating a compelling selection of entertaining and thought-provoking films that captivate our audiences and leave a lasting impact,” says Gradus.G
