In the midst of massive annual sales events of national retailers and excessive heat warnings across the Valley, 60 Jewish young adults came together at Bowlero in Scottsdale for a remarkable event that combined the thrill of bowling with a charitable cause. Organized by NowGen, the young adult division of the Center for Jewish Philanthropy of Greater Phoenix, the goal was not only to enjoy an evening of fun and camaraderie but also to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need.

The atmosphere was electric as the bowling alley filled with laughter, cheers, and the clattering of pins. The event attracted a diverse group of young adults, fostering a warm and inclusive environment where new friendships were formed and old connections were strengthened.

In addition to the bowling festivities, NowGen set up collection bins to gather donations of food, school supplies, hygiene products, and clothing for the less fortunate. Attendees eagerly contributed, recognizing the importance of helping others and embodying the Jewish value of tikkun olam.

The generosity of the participants was overwhelming. By the end of the night, the collection bins were overflowing with donated items. Non-perishable food items ensured that struggling families would have access to nourishing meals. School supplies were gathered to equip underprivileged students for the upcoming school year. Donations of hygiene products and clothing aimed to provide basic necessities and restore dignity to individuals facing difficult circumstances.

The success of this event was a result of the collaboration between NowGen and three local organizations focused on these areas: Just Three Things Pantry, a project of Jewish Family & Children’s ServiceArizona Jews for Justice, a project of Valley Beit Midrash, and Arizona Kosher Pantry. We are proud that all three organizations have received current or past support through the Center for Jewish Philanthropy of Greater Phoenix’s annual grants distribution.

The impact of this event goes far beyond a single evening of bowling. The event served as a powerful reminder that even a small act of kindness can make a significant difference in someone’s life. This event was a testament to the power of unity and the ability to create positive change.
