(ADL) Most social media and online game companies rely primarily on reporting systems to alert them to hate on their platforms. These reporting systems are often burdensome and not designed with communities that are frequently the targets of hate and harassment online in mind.
With this in mind, ADL’s cyber-safety action guide is intended to help you find:
- Guides on how to report hate on a variety of online platforms from the platforms themselves
- A quick reference on platform policies around hate, especially in terms of what identifying characteristics are protected, to help with reporting hate online.
- The full policies governing each platform for those who want more information.
User reports are one of the only ways to alert tech and gaming companies about hate on their platforms. Reporting is an important way to tell tech companies your experience and say hate has no place on their platforms.
Be an advocate. Use your voice. Report online hate.
