This group met with the leadership of Ezras Cholim to not just engage in service to the organization, but to learn about their important work addressing food insecurity locally.

After assembling 168 meals to be distributed to the unhoused community, the CJP volunteers witnessed firsthand how this compassionate organization helps people. An unhoused couple walked up to the door on a Sunday (when the organization is typically closed) with their possessions in garbage bags on their backs. Instead of telling this non-English speaking couple that the organization was closed, they instead welcomed them and gave them each a meal that had been assembled by the volunteers. The supplemented the meals with drinks and gave them information on how to best return during hours when all supplies would be available. Ezras Cholim staff demonstrated to the CJP volunteers that they are always willing to help and do not stand on ceremony when it comes to helping meet people’s basic needs.
